2 Kings 17:24-41 The Samaritans In our study of the Biblical history of Israel, we considered last week the destruction of the northern kingdom (Israel). Part of Assyria's take over of a country was the syncretism of that country with other countries that they had conquered - seeking to have throughout their empire a "melting-pot" of all ethnicities and cultures. That political doctrine had lasting effects upon the landscape of Biblical history and is intrinsic in some of our core teaching. However, one of the primary teaching points that we come face-to-face with in a consideration of the Samaritans is the sin of prejudice - holding a negative opinion of a specific group of people and prejudging them.
