After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to two of His disciples as the were walking on the road to Emmaus. As they walked together, Jesus "expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself." Indicators of God's plan of redemption had been given throughout the Scriptures. One of the earliest recorded references to what man understood about God's plan is found in the book of Job. Job declared, "For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!" Job knew that man needed to be redeemed and that redemption would be provided by God incarnate. He also knew that after his body was buried and decayed, he would be resurrected and given a new body! Such great faith aided Job to not only endure such great affliction, but to worship God in the midst of it.
