* As we have been studying The Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John, we have noted that the major purpose of the book is the presentation of the proof that Jesus is the Son of God. * Last week, we examined Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus contained in the first part of chapter 3. In that passage, we saw that Nicodemus came to Jesus seeking to find answers to his questions. Jesus gave him the ultimate answer ... how to enter the Kingdom of God. In order to enter the Kingdom of God, one must be born again. You must be born of the flesh and of the spirit. That spiritual birth comes through believing that Jesus is who He claimed to be ... the Son of God who became the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world! * John continues this discussion by transitioning to an event that occurred at the Jordan River - at Aenon, near Salim - where John the Baptist declares the Supremacy of Christ in multiple ways to those who are questioning him. * First, we must make a quick detour into the doctrine of baptism, which was the initial subject of the conversation.
