Date: June 28, 2020 Title: The Portrait of Wisdom Passage: Proverbs 8:1-9:12 Speaker: Bob Corbin Sermon Note Sheet (PDF) Download Audio Watch it on |
* Proverbs 1:5-7 "A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and an
enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction." * This passage provides us the Precept and Principle upon which the book of Proverbs is built. We have seen it displayed in each of the past three messages; today, will be the same! Repetition is the key to learning! God desires for us to understand the importance of our response to the call of wisdom! * In the beginning of the book, wisdom is personified as a woman whose call is in contrast to another woman (described as a harlot) who is the personification of foolishness. * Today, we want to consider the Portrait that is verbally given within the first nine chapters of the book. |
