* During the Advent Season we have reflected upon the mystery of the incarnation considering the four names which are given to the child that Isaiah prophesied of in Isaiah 9:6 and the original prophesy that it was predicated upon ... that YHWH would give the house of David a sign, "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14) * Last week we considered the Name by which God chose to refer to Himself - YHWH: the self-existent One. We considered the Supremacy, Sanctity and Singleness of the Name. As well, we saw how Jesus was given the Name (Philippians 2) by the Father, that He referred to Himself as "I am that I am" (such that the Jews accused Him of blasphemy and sought to stone Him), and that when Jesus gave His disciples their final commission to make disciples, He included the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in One Name - the Name. * We want to continue our investigation into the Name of the Child, by considering that Name by which we have commonly referred to Him: Jesus. * This consideration is actually a progression from our consideration of the name YHWH.
