* Jesus has been sharing 'Kingdom thinking' with His disciples and the multitude that surrounded Him. * In the previous message, we saw Jesus share the need for simple trust (faith) in order to enter the Kingdom of God. * Today's passage is actually a continuation of Jesus' discourse with the 'young rich man.' At the end of that discourse, Peter had asked a question regarding rewards, to which Jesus gave a summary answer 'everyone who has left ... will be rewarded.' * The parable that Jesus shares in the first portion of today's passage is a word picture to provide additional information to His response to Peter. Though we will be rewarded, we MUST remember who we are ... and who God is! * The second part of this passage highlights the importance of listening to Jesus' parable and applying it to our lives! |
