* Focusing on the Messiah in the book of Matthew. Matthew was a Jewish man writing to a Jewish audience and giving testimony regarding the life and ministry of the Messiah who had been foretold by many of the Jewish prophets. * Two weeks ago we transitioned into the instructional phase of the life and ministry of the Messiah. * Discipleship is not only teaching doctrine to an individual but it is modeling a godly lifestyle. (cf. 1 Cor 11:1; Phil 4:9; 2 Thess 3:7-9) * Today, we see how Jesus instructed His disciples through the events of life ... specifically, dealing with the trials of life.
