Paul's first epistle (letter) to the church of Corinth was written in order to assist them in dealing with various issues with which they were struggling. Living in a hedonistic, licentious society can have an affect upon the "set-apartness" of the individual believer and gathering of believers. Two weeks ago as we studied chapter 8, transitioned into a section of Paul's letter where he was addressing the importance of considering the affect of the use of our Christian "liberty" on other believers. Last week, we saw how Paul applied this teaching to his own situation. Today, we see Paul come back to the original discussion regarding a believer's interaction with idols with an admonition for them to Learn from History! |
