2 Kings 18:1-12
Hezekiah
* We are in our final stage (kings of the south) of our study of the Biblical history of Israel in the morning messages.
* Over the past two weeks we considered the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham and Ahaz. After two solid kings, the nation of Judah slid fully into ungodly, pagan practices during the 16 years of the reign of Ahaz.
* Today, we transition into the reign of Hezekiah, who is lauded by God's Word as being the most faithful king who ever reigned in Judah! "He trusted in the LORD God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him." (2 Kgs 18:7)
* There is much recorded regarding Hezekiah reign in the Old Testament. The prophets Isaiah, Hosea and Micah all prophesied during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah ... and probably had a profound effect upon the life and reign of Hezekiah.
* Before we begin, we want to address what is seen to be a potential "error" in scripture ... it deals with age of Hezekiah's father (Ahaz) at the time of Hezekiah's birth.
