Date: December 31 Title: Justice in the Church" Passage: 1 Corinthians 5:1-6:11 Speaker: Bob Corbin Sermon Note Sheet (PDF) Download Audio |
* Paul's first epistle (letter) to the church of Corinth was written in order to assist them in dealing with various issues with which they were struggling. * As we can relate, living in a hedonistic, licentious society can have it affect upon the "set apartness" of the individual believer and gathering of believers. * Recall Paul's initial statement to the Corinthians regarding their calling: "To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified (set apart) in Christ Jesus, called to be saints (set apart ones), with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ ..." * A major purpose of Paul's epistle is to assist the believers in this process of sanctification. * Over the next couple of weeks we will be considering several areas in which we as believers must choose Kingdom thinking. * Today, we consider Paul's instruction to the church regarding the dispensing of judgment and justice in the church. |
